Mary is my husband’s grandmother. She is of a generation where her husband refused to allow her to drive. As a result she walked everywhere.

When she came to visit us in New York City, at the age of 81, she walked us all over the island, from Midtown to the Statue of Liberty and back. When we suggested she take a nap before the theatre that night she agreed.

It was us who woke up an hour later and found her quietly reading by the window. She said she hoped we were well rested so as not to slow her down again.
